A prediction market is a collection of people speculating on a variety of events - exchange averages, election results, commodity prices, quarterly sales results or even such things as gross movie receipts.

If you think you are interested in trying out a real-life prediction market check out the University of Iowa's IEM (Iowa Electronic Market). The IEM is an on-line futures market where contract payoffs are based on real-world events such as political outcomes, companies' earnings per share (EPS), and stock price returns.
