The true time of testing for an investor is when the market is falling and he sees his investments diminishing by the minute. Normally an investor will tend to follow the herd and sell off his investments in panic. However, it is extremely necessary for investors to block market noise and correctly follow the rules of investing.

Investors generally tend to respond very quickly to fear, since the fear of losing money is immense. But if they wish to make money in the long run they must learn to ignore the “fear factor” in the investment equation and focus solely on the fundamentals. It is helpful to consult a financial planner who will be able to guide investors better and help them in taking the correct decisions.

Investors should always remember that investments always give a better return if kept for a long time, thus if they are sold off prematurely, it is a loss. Especially in these times of volatility, investors should focus on long term economic growth and not indulge in fruitless speculations.

On "Green" Investing in 2009-2010 (Part 1)

At Global Finance School, I would personally advocate that there is no doubt a global market requires a global conscience. It seems that today, most everyone is at least partially “green,” and concerned about what kind of earth, our children and grandchildren will inherit. The nascent Obama administration, at least partially, was voted in due to the alarming rate in which the environment is suffering and resources being depleted. The renewed sense of ecology and environmentalism, hit the market with a bang in 2008, but posted some dismal stats in relation to investments. It was quite like investing in computer technology a decade or so ago, for every goldmine like Google or Yahoo, there were some flashes in the pan.
